TRANSPORTATION TO THE START ΑREA OF MARATHON RACE (including Power Walking)

Buses that will be departing constantly from six (6) different points within the Athens Center, from 05.30AM up to 06.45AM will be used the ATHENS MARATHON Organizing Committee for the (direct and without any stop) transportation of all runners participating in the Marathon Race and Power Walking to the Marathon Start area. After 06.45AM, it will be no longer possible for late runners to use our transportation system and they need to take care of their own transportation to the Marathon Start area, by their own means.

Please Note: The last departure from “SYGGROU – FIX” Metro Station will be at 06.15AM.

 

DEPARTURE STATIONS:
-Metro Station (Line 2)   «Syngrou-Fix», along   Syngrou   Avenue  
-   Last  bus  to  depart  at  06.15  –  boarding  at “Syngrou” exit
-Metro Station (Line   2)   «Panepistimio», along  Panepistimiou  street  –
boarding at “Panepistimio” exit
-Metro Station (Line  2  &  3)  «Syntagma», along  Vas.  Amalias  Avenue  – 
boarding on both sides of the platform
-Metro Station (Line  2)  and  Subway  Line 1 «Omonoia»,
on Tritis Septemvriou street
-Metro Station (Line  3)  «Evangelismos»,
along Vas. Sofias Avenue
-Metro Station (Line  3)  «Katechaki», 
along Mesogeion Avenue

For  easy  boarding,  runners  are  advised to avoid the central station at Syntagma and select the following metro stations, depending on their boarding area:
-“Omonoia”:  Piraeus,  Kallithea,  Tavros,  Petralona,  Patisia,  Nea  Ionia,  Irakleio,  Marousi, Kifissia
-“Panepistimio”:    Peristeri,    Ilion,    Petroupoli, Ag. Anargyroi
-“Syngrou Fix”: Neos Kosmos, Koukaki, Kallithea, Daphni, Ag. Dimitrios
-“Katechaki”:  Psychico,  Chalandri,  Holargos, Ag. Paraskevi



Those of you that wish to get to the Marathon Start Area by yourself (your own car, taxi, or other private transportation), you need to:

a) Make sure that you will have arrived at the venue area, (start line, Marathon Town) at least one hour before the starting time of the race. Be there at 08.00AM the latest, taking into consideration the walking distance you will have to cover from the disembarking parking area, to the start line (approximately 800m)
b) Take into consideration that alongside the marathon route, road closures and traffic restrictions are taking place on both sides of Marathonos Avenue from 08.00AM


FREE TRANSPORT CARD (ATHENS PUBLIC TRANSPORT MEANS)

All runners registered to participate in one of the Athens Marathon races in the Full Registration Level, are entitled to a specific transport card offering them free use of all the Athens Public Transport Means for the period three days prior and two days after the Race.

The runners entitled to such service may collect their personal card either from the Athens Marathon Welcome Desk at the Athens Airport “El. Venizelos”, or from the RegistrationCentre - Athens Marathon EXPO. The Athens Marathon Welcome Desk in the Airport will be open from 9 to 11 November 2017 from 08.00 to 22.00 hours. Our staff and volunteers will assist you and provide you any information needed.
