The Organizing Committee of Athens Authentic Marathon (AMA), decided to hold the 10km Road Race on the afternoon of Saturday 13 November 2021. The Race will be held in two sections (A & B). The starting time will be at 17:00 'and 18:00'.

• 10km Road Race A: Start Time 17:00
• 10km Road Race B: Start Time 18:00

Both of these races are separate and the participants compete with the bib number they received for the race and in the registration center. The arbitrary change of race from that of the initial registration, results in the cancellation of the runner. In case of any desire to participate in both races, registration is required for both.

BEFORE THE RACE

Before leaving your residence, make sure you have with you the following:

• Bib number and safety pins (timing chip is embedded on the bib number),

• Kit plastic bag with the bib number's sticker to be stamped on.

TRANSPORTATION

The participating runners get to the start area of the race at their own risk. Participants are kindly requested to reach the start area using public transportation and avoid the car. It is noted that runners must arrive on Vas. Amalias Avenue (at the height of Bodossaki Foundation), in the direction towards Syntagma, at least 45 'before the start of the Race, ie:

• Runners participating in the 10km Road Race “A” : 16.15

• Runners participating in the 10km Road Race “B” : 17.15

Note that no kind of vehicle is allowed in the city centre of Athens and anywhere around the Panathenaic Stadium on Saturday 13 November 2021 from 14:00 to 20:00.

Before the Start

Arrival of participants at the starting area (Amalias Avenue, in front of Bodossaki Foundation)

• The arrival of the participants shall be from all METRO stations surrounding the starting area, following specific instructions and recommendations, from 16:00 to 17:30 the latest.

50% of the participants will be asked to arrive at the starting area from 16.30 to 16.45 using the Metro stations "Evangelismos" - "Panepistimio" - "Syntagma".

The second half of the participants will be asked to arrive at the starting area from 17.00 to 17.30 using the Metro stations "Syntagma" - "Monastiraki" - "Acropolis".

WARM UP AREA

Runners may warm up behind the start area on Vas. Amalias Avenue (near Adrianos Gate). Warm up is not allowed before the start line.

• It is recommended to all runners to wear a protective mask from their arrival on the race site until their start, ie until they take position on the special fixed position indications. There will be a large number of waste bins in appropriate places in the starting blocks to dispose of the protective masks.

• Runners may leave their clothing at the designated areas, having put it in advance in the plastic kit bags given to them by the Organizing Committee. The handover will take place in two different spots based on the time of arrival of the runners at the starting point and the starting block in which they have been assigned to. Specifically, runners who have an arrival time of:

16:00 to 16:30, shall leave their kit bags in the designated area next to Zappeion Megaron (towards Amalias Street).

17:00 to 17:30, shall leave their kit bags in the designated area at the exit of Zappeion Megaron to V. Olgas Avenue ("Fytorio"). This arrangement is intended to create dispersion at the entrance and exit of the Zappeion alley.

• It is recommended to runners who wish to warm up to do it individually (running, flexibility exercises, etc.) in the areas behind the start, to avoid running in groups and to avoid areas where there is crowding.

• Runners are advised not to have accompanying visitors/ spectators with them on their arrival and generally during their stay on the race grounds.

Start Area/ Starting Procedure

• The runners of each 10km Road Race (A & B) will be distributed in different blocks, each of which will have a dimension of 1,200sqm and will include about 500 people as a final participation limit. The line up of the blocks will be along Amalias Avenue and along Vas. Olgas Avenue.

• Each block will be about 100m long, in order to allow runners to follow the rule of social distancing of 1.5m between them, in a horizontal and vertical direction. It is noted that the width of each block is 12m.

• When the runners enter the 1-2 starting block, they will be placed - according to the rule of 1.5m social distancing - in specific rows of 9 people each. In the start block there will be a clear instruction for the (mandatory) waiting position of each runner.

• Runners will enter the area of the safe place block, in which they have been placed according to the following schedule:

10km Road Race “A”: Until 16.45
10km Road Race “B”: Until 17.45

• The participants in each block and in each row are determined by name in advance from the timing system and carry a personalized timing chip on their bib number, so that they maintain their specific and certain placement in the starting block, and to ensure that their position in the block is checked, at the start, on the route (via the electronic control and timing points) and at the finish.

• Having previously maintained a mandatory waiting position for the start, the runners will start in certain order - maintaining the pre-existing distances between them in every direction. The runners will start in 5-6 rows (about 50 participants).

• It should be noted that the runners are allocated in the starting blocks (without the possibility of arbitrary change) based on their performance, thus ensuring a unified movement rate for those belonging to a specific starting block, resulting in the least possible runners overtaking throughout the race and the smallest possible crowding with other runners, in addition to those around.

• The distance from the end of the 1st, to the beginning of the 2nd starting block is set at 4-5m.

• The start time delay from block to block can extend up to 10 minutes. To the time required to evacuate the starting block is added

a) the time required to place the runners of the next block in the mandatory individual waiting position / stop for the next start and

b) an additional time of 3-4 minutes.

• For a distance of at least 200m - 300m (3,000 m2) after the start, there will be a flow indicator in order to indicate to the runners the path to follow and the distances that are recommended to be followed.

RACE START

A “Wave Start System” will be implemented. Eight (8) different wave starts are planned for each race (A&B) with a difference of a few minutes between them.

All participants are placed in starting blocks at the start area, according to their bib number and color. The block is written on the bib number.

Get to the starting blocks in time, based on the listed block and the color of your bib number 15 minutes before start.
