Top runners will compete this year in the 31st Athens Classic Marathon event on Sunday, 10 November 2013.  Among them, Raymond Bett, who has won twice the race, and Gishu Mindaye.

This is the third time that Raymond Bett will participate ιν the Athens Classic Marathon. Ιn 2010 he thrilled the crowd winning the race in 2:12.40, a new competition record. It was the first time that he was winning a marathon race ever, so two years later he came back as a favorite. In 2012 he won again, breaking for a second time the competition record (2:11.35).

After finishing the race last year, he promised to come back and take a shot at the course record, which belongs to Stefano Baldini who won the Olympic race in 2004 in 2:10.55.

On women’s side, Gishu Mindaye will be among the runners that will be found at the starting line. The Ethiopian runnerwon the Rotterdam Marathon in 2006, achieving a personal best (2:28.30). This year she has competed in Chongqing, finishing in 2:35.08.
