What is the date of the “Athens Marathon. The Authentic”?

“Athens Marathon. The Authentic” is an annual event that takes place every second weekend of November. The event alter to a running weekend in 2019.

The date for the 38th “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” is 7 and 8 of November 2020.

The 10k Road Race will be held on Saturday 7th November 2020 and the Marathon Race, as well as the 5km Road Race will be held on Sunday 8th November 2020.

How many Races do you offer?

Our program includes 5 Races, for which you can register:

o Marathon Race 
o Power Walking
o 10km Road Race
o 5km Road Race
o Kids Race (this race will not take place in the event of 2020)

What is the Premium Registration & Hospitality Program?

It is a complete program of the Athens Marathon, Authentic which offers:

How can I register?

Please read our Terms & Conditions to confirm that you are eligible to participate in our Races.

The Official Registration Period for the ATHENS MARATHON opens approximately 6 months before the race date. Registrations will automatically close once the participation limit per race is met. All registrations are submitted online.

How can I pay?

You may settle your registration fee with either of the following ways:

a) By credit card
b) By bank wire:

In order for your registration to be valid, you need to proceed with the settlement of the registration fee within two (2) working days after submission.

In case of a bank wire, you need to make sure that your name and registration code are both mentioned on the transaction receipt. A copy of the transaction receipt should be sent shortly afterwards to the LOC offices by fax or email (Fax: +30211 1827689, This email address is being protected from spambots. After you have settled your registration fee as above, a registration confirmation email will be sent to you within seven (7) working days.

What is the cancellation policy?

A registration submitted and confirmed may be cancelled after request by the registered runner sent to the Event up until 30 September 2020. In a registered runner wishes to cancel his/her registration, he/she needs to send a cancellation request email at This email address is being protected from spambots. In all cases of cancellations requests sent up until the above date (30 September) to the above email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) the registration fee is refunded to the applicant, after the deduction of 10.00€ as handling fees. 

After that date (30 September 2020) NO cancellation request submitted will be considered, regardless it suggests registrations submitted previously or afterwards.

In the extreme case that the Athens Marathon event is cancelled after relevant order by the Greek State, the registration fee will be refunded to the registered runners, after the deduction of the following ammount as handling fees:
Marathon Race or Power Walking Registration – Deduction of 15.00€
10km Race – Deduction of 12.00€
5km Race – Deduction of 10.00€

Any due refund will be settled within a period of 60 days after the event.


I have not received the confirmation email, what should I do?

The confirmation emails are sent within seven (7) working days, from the moment you successfully submit your registration and after you have settled your registration fee as per instructions (read above in “How can I pay?”)

After the seven (7) days have passed and you still have not received it:

1. Check your spam folder in case the e-mail bounced there
2. If you still have not found it, make sure you have followed ALL the payment instructions
3. If you have settled your registration fee as per instructions, and still have not received the email, contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

How do I find my bib number?

About ten days before the race, all runners who have successfully registered for any of the event's races will receive an email, informing them about their exact bib number.

Where do I pick up my bib number and package kit?

All runners are asked to collect their bib numbers and race kits from the Athens Marathon EXPO & Registration Centre, hosted in the Faliro Indoor Hall & Exhibition Centre of Athens, at the Olympic Faliro Coastal Zone.

The Athens Marathon Registration Centre will be open for the public as follows:

Thursday 5 November 2020: 10.00 – 20.00
Friday 6 November 2020: 10.00 – 20.00
Saturday 7 November 2020: 10.00 – 18.00

Is there a bag check/depository?

Runners must hand in the kit bag with their personal clothing to the volunteers at the designated areas at least 30 minutes before the start of the race. After finishing the race, runners, assisted by volunteers, may collect back their kit bag presenting their bib number.

What transportation services do you offer?

Free Transportation to the Start Area of the Marathon Race & Power Walking is offered BY THE organizing Committee, and ONLY for the registered runners.  

Buses that will be departing constantly from five (5) different points within the Athens Center, from 05.30AM up to 06.45AM will be used the ATHENS MARATHON Organizing Committee for the (direct and without any stop) transportation of all runners participating in the Marathon Race and Power Walking to the Marathon Start area. After 06.45AM, it will be no longer possible for late runners to use our transportation system and they need to take care of their own transportation to the Marathon Start area, by their own means.
